Norwich, Connecticut-based singer-songwriter Lou Alexander will release her debut single “I Am” on July 15, 2025. The track blends pop, soul, and rock with personal lyrics that reflect her journey from Haiti to Connecticut and her artistic evolution. A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Lou recently appeared at the Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night. “This song was inspired by the journey of fighting that voice and how it's not an easy task, but it is one that we can all relate to. I want people to know that they are important, needed and that there is power on the other side of struggle.”
The single was produced by Maurice “Ionne” Harris — a New Haven-based producer and co-founder of 5015 Records. He is also professionally affiliated with Yale University. His production brings depth and clarity to Lou’s debut, allowing her voice and story to shine. “From the moment I heard her voice, I knew she had something special. This single captures her resilience and authenticity, and I'm thrilled to have been part of bringing her story to life.”
Australia-based artist HILLOC co-produced “I am” with Ionne. This track "I Am" encapsulates the story that Lou is unveiling of herself as a performer and a human being. It is a great honor to help shape this track, through mixing and production, to amplify Lou's storytelling and creative voice.”
